What
is PEN?

The Network grew out of the Community Action Network,
which was in partnership with
Pendle Borough Council to put Local Agenda 21 and Sustainable
Development principles
into practice.
Since
12th December 2002, when PEN adopted a new Constitution
at a Special General
Meeting and ratified it at the AGM on 24th March 2003,
PEN has become an independent
Body. It is affiliated to Pendle Community Network and
acts as the main 'umbrella' for
Environmental interests in the local Voluntary and Community
Sector. PEN is a Charity,
which was registered on 2nd September 2003 [Reg. NO.
1099240].
Its
main OBJECTS, in delivering Sustainable Development
in Pendle, are:

To Raise Awareness of Environmental Issues;
- To
Advance Education in Environmental Matters;
- To
Promote and Protect the Natural and Built Environment;
- To
Improve the Environmental Health and Well-Being of
People in Pendle;
In Furtherance of these Objects, PEN will Bring Together
Representatives of Local
Voluntary and Community Organizations, Statutory Authorities
and other Agencies and
Achieve its Aims BY:
- Networking,
Consulting and Working in Partnership
- Developing
, Coordinating and Maintaining Community Projects
- Providing
Training, Technical and Financial Advice
- Sharing
Common Resources and Exchanging Information
- Organizing
Conferences and Workshops on Key Issues
